What is Structured Family Care in Indiana?
Structured Family Care is one of the Indiana Medicaid programs that pay family caregivers. This program focuses on helping family caregivers who live with the person being cared for and who are legally responsible for that person. As a result, the paid family caregivers are often parents caring for their special needs children, spouses caring for spouses, and adult children caring for parents. There are other arrangements in Indiana Structured Family Care, as long as the two live together. The Structured Family Caregiver provides daily support with personal care activities such as cleaning, cooking, bathing assistance, mobility assistance, arranging medical care, transportation, and more.
Kompassionate Care pays one of the highest rates for Structured Family Care in Indianaopolis and across Indiana, 80% of total reimbursement. A case manager determines your level of care, and this sets your daily rate. This rate is shared between the family caregiver and the managing home care agency/Indiana Structured Family Care agency . The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration recommends that agencies take as much as 35% of that daily reimbursement and caregivers take 65%. Instead, Kompassionate Care pays family caregivers 23% more than the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration recommends. We pay 80%. As of July 2024, in Level 3 care, seven days a week, we pay Structured Family Caregivers as much as $38,964 per year, tax-free. The state adjusts this rate over time. Please call about current rates.
